PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the length of and cut a number of linear bodies for example optical fibers having flexibility into specified lengths automatically and store the cut lengths of optical fiber in parallel condition approximately. SOLUTION: A length measuring and cutting device for the linear body according to the invention is composed of a bobbin stand 2 on which a bobbin 3 to pay off the linear body 1 is installed, a length measuring counter 4 to measure the length of the linear body 1 paid off, a cutting device 5 to cut the linear body 1 according the specified length, a transport device consisting of a plurality of belt conveyor 8 installed in longitudinal arrangement for transporting the cut lengths of the linear body 1' while they are held linearly, and a storing device 10 to accommodate the cut linear bodies 1', wherein linear body transfer means consisting of arm-equipped rotor 9, etc., for transferring the linear bodies 1' from upon the belt conveyors 8 to the storing device 10 are provided in a plurality of positions on the transport device in the longitudinal arrangement. |
