PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method for display element for measuring the display characteristic of a flexible display element (e.g. a liquid crystal display element comprising a liquid crystal having memory property nipped between a pair of film bases) while keeping the display condition. SOLUTION: In inspection, the flexible display element 6 is arranged on a flat plate 52 having a through-hole 56 through a porous sheet 54. A negative pressure is applied to the display element 6 through the through-hole 56 and the porous sheet 54, whereby the display characteristic of the display element 6 is measured under the condition where the display element 6 is fixed onto the flat plate 52.
