PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the attachment and detachment of a filter in an intake silencer. SOLUTION: In this intake silencer for an engine 30, its internal space 34 is allowed to communicate with and connected to the internal space of a cylinder head of the engine through a passage member 47 for forming a breather passage, so that blowby gas generated in the engine is circulated to the intake side of the engine through the breather passage. A filter 45 for the blowby gas or the like is installed to and set in the vicinity of the inlet part 42 of the breather passage within the intake silencer 30. The intake silencer is formed of a bonded and integrated structure of an upper half body 31 and a lower half body 32, and the installation and set of the purification filter is performed by nipping it between holding parts 39 formed in symmetric parts of the upper and lower half bodies and mutually bonding the upper and lower half bodies.
