PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new semi-aromatic polyamide suppressed in coloring, excellent in solubility in, and compatibility with a number of solvents, acrylic and epoxy monomers and oligomers, and other polymers, exhibiting excellent processability and useful in various fields without detriment to excellent heat resistance and the like inherent in an aromatic polyamide. SOLUTION: The new semi-aromatic polyamide has a recurring unit represented by formula (A) (wherein R1 is a divalent aromatic group containing at least one phenolic hydroxy group; and R2 is a 2-20C divalent aliphatic or alicyclic group) containing a phenolic hydroxy group in the structure.
