PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine equipped with a heat insulated device capable of suppressing the temperature of each piston during the engine at a standstill and also drop of the working oil temperature in a valve characteristic changing mechanism and thereby preventing deterioraion of the exhaust emission immediately after the engine is started. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine is equipped with pistons 3, a lubricating oil supplying means 18 to supply lubricating oil to the pistons, a lubricating oil discharging means 16 to discharge the lubricating oil to the supplying means 18, and the heat insulated device 10 to suppress the variation of the temperature of the lubricating oil, whereby the lubricating oil kept warm in each piston 3 is supplied even before the engine is started.
