PURPOSE: A muffler having a protective film and the manufacturing method are provided to prevent a protective film from relaxing owing to frequent contacts with damp, to prevent oxidation of metal, and to improve anti-corrosive force to a muffler for a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A protective film is formed to form a certain vacuum space between a main muffler(1) of a muffler for a vehicle and a special film, and the protective film is formed to completely shut off both passages of exhaust pipes(3,5) melted to the main muffler. The protective film comprises a special film(7) made by compounding benaotriazoles-ultraviolet shutoff protective agent and polyethylene. The special film is covered at the end of the main muffler and exhaust pipe, and heat is given so that pressure is produced by contractile force of the special film. The protective film is formed to seal the special film on the metal surface by the contractile force and pressure. Therefore, rust is prevented for a long time, and the retention period of the muffler is extended.
