PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deliver data for carrying out an appropriate cleaning or ink ejecting operation depending on the kind of ink at the time of replacing an ink cartridge. SOLUTION: When ink cartridges 71 and 72 are fixed to a printer 20, cartridge IDs are read out from the ink memories 71m and 72m of the cartridges 71 and 72 and transmitted to a personal computer 90. The computer 90 accesses a server 100 through internet IN and transmits the data of cartridge ID. The server 100 receives the data of cartridge ID and transmits ink parameter data IP corresponding to the kind of that cartridge to the computer 90. The computer 90 receives the ink parameter data IP and transmits it to the printer 20. The printer 20 performs cleaning in the ink channel according to the cleaning parameter in the ink parameter data IP and generates a drive signal according to a drive waveform parameter. |
