ARRIVAL DIRECTION ESTIMATING MEANS AND DIRECTIONAL VARIABLE TRANSMITTER-RECEIVER USING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adaptively change over an estimating process that uses received continuous data and an estimating process that sequentially uses data to estimate a direction. SOLUTION: A diffused spectrum signal is received by an array antenna 101 to be inversely diffused by an inversed diffusion processing means. The signal after the inversed diffusion is sampled by a high speed sampling means 104 and a low speed sampling means 106 and then each sampling data is stored into a high speed sampling data storing means 105 and a low speed sampling storing means 107. A matrix operation is adaptively changed over to a batch processing means 108 for a matrix operation using high speed sampling data or to a sequential processing means 109 for a matrix operation using low speed sampling data based on a result detected by a correlation detecting means for delay path information 103. An arrival direction is estimated using an operation result of either the batch processing or the sequential processing.
