PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a positioning device and method therefor capable of obtaining positioning results with high accuracy at all times without positioning locations in continuous measurement mode. SOLUTION: At GPS measurement, the electric power supply of the GPS is turned on to start satellite search (SB1 and SB2). It is determined whether positioning is successful to position an initial latitude and longitude or not (SB3). In the case that the positioning is not successful, the satellite search is repeated. In the case that the positioning is successful to position the initial latitude and longitude, a continuous positioning state is brought about (SB4) to display DOP values (SB6) every time a DOP value is determined (YES in SB5). During this, it is determined whether 30 seconds set by a user have elapsed or not (SB7), and the continuous positioning is repeated in the case that the 30 seconds have not elapsed. The latitude and longitude when the 30 seconds have elapsed are displayed, and the electric power supply of the GPS is turned off to complete the positioning (SB8 and SB9). Even if the initial results of measurement include significant errors, the errors are dissolved while the following continuous positioning is performed. |
