The invention relates to the supply of electricity to control, signaling, illuminating and display devices or the like in rail vehicles wherein a drive unit is operated independently from a drive system, load is reduced ease of maintenance is improved and environmental costs are saved. A fuel cell aggregate is used as an electricity supply device. Said methanol processing aggregate is comprised of a tank (3) for deionized water; a tank (2) for methanol; an evaporator (4) for mixing water and methanol; a reformer (6) for converting methanol to hydrogen and carbon dioxide; a gas purification unit (7) for removing carbon monoxide; several integrated proton-conducting electrolyte-membrane (PEM) fuel cells (8), wherein hydrogen and air compressed by a compressor (14) are continuously supplied as oxidizing agents and removed; a cooling circuit (K) for cooling said fuel cells (8), a pipe (16) which leads into the tank and draws off reaction water; and a pipe (18) which draws off waste gas produced in the reaction in the fuel cell. Said pipe (18) is connected to a catalytic burner (5). |
