PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-color package transfer-type printing method by which color mixing within a developing means can be prevented, and a multi-color package-type printing apparatus by which the whole apparatus can be miniaturized by using this method. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus which has plate drums A, B, C and Z for holding plates 6 for printing, the developing means 10, 11, 12 and 13 for feeding inks to the plate drums, a primary transfer means 2 on which ink images formed on the plate drums are transferred, a secondary transfer means 14 which transfers the ink images transferred on the primary transfer means on a recording material P and a paper feeding means 16 for feeding the recording material to a transfer site and which after the ink images from each of the plate drums are successively laminated and transferred onto the primary transfer means, transfers the ink images in the lump on the recording material by the secondary transfer means, is provided and the developing means for respectively storing an ink with a viscosity of at least 150 Pa.s in cope with an arbitrary plate drum except the plate drum Z whose transfer order of the ink image to the primary transfer means is of the lowest order are arranged and the developing means for storing the ink with a viscosity being not higher than that for the developing means corresponding to the arbitrary plate drum in cope with the plate drum whose transfer order is lower than that of the arbitrary plate drum is arranged. |
