PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet processing device capable of shortening the total punching time by sending an operation start signal as quickly as practicable and thereby heightening the productivity of the punching process. SOLUTION: The sheet processing device 100 is equipped with an inlet carrying roller 202 installed in an image forming device 100 for receiving each sheet of paper exhausted therefrom 100, a punching device 502 to punch the sheet fed from the inlet carrying roller 202, and carrying rollers 203 and 222 to forward the sheet led from the punching device 502, wherein the arrangement further includes a CPU 54 which at the time of punching, transmits the operation start signal for actuating the initial motion of punching to the punching device 502 before the sheet stops, and thereby the device 502 is put in the preparatory motion before the sheet is stopped to undergo the punching process, and thereby the time of punching process is shortened and the productivity is heightened.
