<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time for manufacturing and to improve the yield. SOLUTION: A hybrid wavelength converter 100 of the transit phase modulation type is constituted, by forming a Mach-Zehnder optical interference circuit 120 on a platform 110 and mounted with one semiconductor optical amplifier array 130, having four SS-SOA elements 131 to 134. The SS-SOA elements 131 and 133 are connected in series by an arm waveguide 123, and since the SS-SOA elements 132 and 134 are connected in series by an arm waveguide 124, the interaction length of a signal light Ps and a control light Pc increases and an extinction rate becomes high, making it possible to lower the signal light power and the control light power. Furthermore, since the mounting needs to be done just once, the shortening of the manufacturing time and the improvement in the yield are made possible.</p> |
