PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a power-saving engine and the engine. SOLUTION: This power-saving engine comprises an engine seat, a cylinder, valves, a spark plug, a piston, a piston connecting rod, a crank, and a power- saving device. The power-saving device comprises a first power-saving connecting rod and a second power-saving connecting rod. One end of the first power-saving connecting rod is connected to the engine seat, and the other end is connected to the connecting rod of the cylinder piston. The second power- saving connecting rod is connected to the proper position of the first power- saving connecting rod, and the opposite end of the connection end of the second power-saving connecting rod with the first power-saving connecting rod is connected to the crank. By the installation of the first and second power-saving connecting rods, the action of a lever is produced by the transmission of a power from the piston connecting rod to the crank, and the effect of power saving of an engine output can be achieved.
