PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a buckle from being pinched in a narrow gap between a center console and a front seat when a seat belt is tightened. SOLUTION: A seat belt tightening device 3 includes a pulling element 2 to couple the seat belt buckle 1, and the pulling element 2 is coupled strongly with a buckle mechanism in a buckle casing 4 and is surrounded by a cover 5 at least partially in the neighbourhood of the buakle casing 4. The cover 5 has an outside shape as thinning in the direction in which the buckle 1 is pulled during tightening of the seat belt, in which the outside dimensions in the region with the greater section area is similar to those of the end of the buckle casing 4 while the outside dimensions in the region with the smaller section area is similar to those of the pulling element.
