METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING SULFUR COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for reducing a sulfur compound by efficiently burning the sulfur compound in a high concentration without forming an unburned component and other reaction products. SOLUTION: The sulfur compound gas in the high concentration is removed from sulfur compounds included in the gas generated when gasifying a carbonaceous raw material by a desulfurizing apparatus 19. The sulfur compound gas in the high concentration is burned in a hydrogen sulfide-burning apparatus 33 at a prescribed air ratio. The burned gas burned in the hydrogen sulfide- burning apparatus 33 is cooled by a heat-exchange boiler 35 as a cooling means. As a result, the generation of an unnecessary gas is suppressed because the burned gas can pass a temperature region within which the unnecessary gas is generated in a short time by rapidly cooling the burned gas to a prescribed temperature by the heat exchange boiler 35.
