PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a specific gravity measuring method, capable of measuring the specific gravity of such a lightweight article as floats on the water, by utilizing a specific gravity measuring device similar to conventional methods. SOLUTION: A member 2A for receiving an object to be measured is arranged in a state immersed in a liquid which is not in contact with the liquid chamber 1 inside the liquid chamber 1 housing the liquid L. The specific gravity measuring device A is provided with measuring means 11a and 12a for measuring any two elements among three measuring elements comprised of the weight in the air, weight in the liquid, and buoyancy of the object to be measured M. In the measurement of specific gravity by the specific gravity measuring device A, when the object to be measured M is similar in weight to or lighter than the liquid L in the liquid chamber 1, the object to be measured M is held integrally in a state of being immersed in the liquid with the member 2A for receiving the object to be measured via a floating-preventing member 4A to measure the weight in the liquid and/or buoyancy.
