PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To certainly conduct automatic starting of an engine, in an engine and the like conducting idle-stop operation. SOLUTION: In an engine automatic starting control, a starting motor is actuated when an automatic starting condition is established by decreasing of a brake stroke to less than a specified value, and fuel injection and ignition are started. Conventionally, by determining that an engine is considered as starting combustion when an engine speed increases to more than the specified value, the actuation of the starting motor is stopped. However, when output of the starting motor is large, the engine speed sometimes exceeds the specified value even if combustion is not started. So that, in this invention, the determination is made sure by adding condition that fuel injection and ignition control are started to all cylinders.
