PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper sheet aligning mechanism for reducing the size and the weight of a paper sheet stapling device capable of being connected to a page printer, a facsimile, a copying machine, etc. SOLUTION: The paper sheet stapling device is mounted on an upper surface of a laser beam printer LBP, etc. A slide type paper sheet aligning pusher 33 is disposed at the side of a stapling table 29, a paper sheet aligning rotary brush 15 is disposed on the stapling table 29, and the paper sheet aligning pusher and the paper sheet aligning rotary brush are driven by one motor 17. The paper sheet aligning pusher is reciprocated in the transverse direction by a cylindrical cam 32 to positionally align the paper sheets in the lateral direction, the paper sheet aligning rotary brush is rotated by a gear to sweep the surface of the paper sheets, and the paper sheets are pressed against a rear wall surface of the stapling table 29 and positionally aligned. Paper sheets are stapled by the stapler and discharged in a stack tray.
