PURPOSE: A reciprocating compressor is provided to increase reliability of a product by excluding use of intake valve possibly cracked by concentrated stress due to reiterated opening and closing. CONSTITUTION: A compressor includes a casing(11) having an accommodating space formed therein; a reciprocating motor part(21) having a stator(23) secured within the casing and a mover(25) placed to move linearly and relatively to the stator; and a compression part(31) having a cylindrical cylinder(33) placed within the stator and having both ends open and an intake part(35) recessed from an inside wall and extending in longitudinal direction and a cylindrical piston(37) having one side open, whcih is accommodated within the cylinder to relatively move and has at least one fluid passing hole(42) horizontally formed in longitudinal direction to be fluidically connected with the intake part so that fluid sucked through the opening area flows out into the suction part.
