2-Pyrazolyl-6-aryloxy-pyridine or pyrimidine derivative or an agriculturally acceptable salt or N-oxide thereof has the formula (I) wherein: A is optionally substituted aryl or 5- or 6-membered nitrogen- or sulfur-containing heteroaromatic or a difluorobenzodioxolyl; Z is N or CR6; X is -O-, -S-, -CH2O- or -CH2S-; R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, halogen, haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, cyano, nitro or an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxyalkoxy or -S(O)n-R7, -NR8R9 or R10O-CY-; n is 0, 1 or 2; R7 is alkyl or haloalkyl; R8 and R9 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl; R10 is an alkyl; Y is O or S; R3 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxyalkyl, haloalkyl, cyano, nitro or -NR11R12; R11 and R12 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl; R4 is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxyalkoxy, haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, cyano, nitro or -S(O)m-R13; m is 0, 1 or 2; R13 is alkyl or haloalkyl; R5 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, haloalkyl, haloalkenyl, cyanoalkyl or cyano and R6 is hydrogen with the proviso that a) R5 and R6 both is hydrogen and/or b) R2 is halogen, optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, alkoxyalkyl, alkoxyalkoxy group, or haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, cyano, nitro or -S(O)n-R7, -NR8R9 or R10O-CY-; n is 0, 1 or 2; R7 is alkyl or haloalkyl group; in which R8 and R8 are each independently hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl or aryl; R10 is alkyl and Y is O or S in the event that Z is CR and A is an optionally substituted aryl or optionally substituted 6-membered nitrogen- or sulfur-containing heteroaromatic. A herbicidal composition thereof is also described.
