PURPOSE: A hub lock mechanism is provided to cut down the price by simplifying the action of a double spring in the hub lock and to reduce dial torque. CONSTITUTION: A hub clutch mechanism comprises an axle(11) having an axle end portion, a hub body(36) surrounding the axle end portion, a clutch ring(10) engaging one of the axle end portion and the hub body and slidably movable axially into engagement with the other of the axle end portion and hub body, and a control member controlling the slidable movement of the clutch ring. The hub clutch mechanism comprises an over-center spring having a periphery secured to the clutch ring and as secured to the clutch ring the clutch ring is urged away from the center of the spring in an axial direction, and an operative force member selectively applied to the center to force the center to one side and then the other side of the periphery to reverse axial urging of the clutch ring into and out of engagement.
