Di-n-octyl-chloromethane phosphonate may be prepared by reacting n-octyl alcohol with chloromethane phosphonyl dichloride. Tetra - n - octyl - methylene diphosphonate may be prepared by reacting di-n-octyl phosphite with di-n-octyl-chloromethane phosphonate. The compounds of Formula I may be used as antioxidants for organic materials.
