REMOTE MONITORING DEVICE FOR MACHINE AND MANAGEMENT METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To monitor an operation condition of an outboard motor from a remote place to perform proper maintenance. CONSTITUTION: The operation condition of the outboard motor 1 is detected by an ECU 3 and is transmitted to a remote monitoring device 6 using a portable telephone 5. The transmission of this condition data is performed by access from an outboard motor 1 side only, and security is ensured. When the remote monitoring device 6 recognizes an abnormality in the condition data, it determines the cause of failure by troubleshooting and informs a ship 2 provided with the outboard motor 1 of processing. The troubleshooting is performed by obtaining a program from a server of a manufacturer, and the cause of failure is transmitted to the server and is stored as user information. The remote monitoring device 6 may give an order for necessary maintenance products to realize quick maintenance.
