PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a string engaging tool which can engage a string of a necklace accessory easily and reliably. SOLUTION: This string engaging tool 1 comprises a pair of engaging pieces 2, and the pieces 2 can be combined with each other by bringing connection surfaces 3 formed respectively on the pieces 2 into contact with each other. In the tool 1, a string is caught between the connection surfaces 3 of the pieces 2 from both sides so that the string is easily engaged. A holding groove 4, a fitting projection 5, and a fitting recess 6 are formed on each connection surface 3. When the pieces 2 are combined, the string is forcibly held between the surfaces 3 in such a manner that the projection 5 and recess 6 of one of the pieces 2 are fit with the recess 6 and projection 5 of the other piece 2, respectively.
