PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for measuring the quantity of visceral fat such as the section area of the visceral fat existing in the body of a subject and the sum of the quantity of visceral fat and the quantity of the subcutaneous fat easily and precisely. SOLUTION: An electric current is sent between two electrodes 2 and 3 for electric current disposed on the outer surface of the subject's body 1 with a distance between them sufficiently shorter than the outer peripheral length of the subject's body 1 from an electric current source 4. A first electrode 5 for measurement is disposed adjacent to one of the two electrodes 2 and 3 for the current, and a second electrode 11 is disposed at a position nearly facing the two electrodes 2 and 3 for the current with the subject's body 1 in-between. A first voltage 1 yielded between the first and second electrodes 5 and 11 for measurement is measured by a voltmeter 7, and the quantity of the subcutaneous fat of the subject's body 1 is calculated by a body fat calculating part 25 based on the first voltage and the quantity of the characteristics reflecting the size of the subject's body 1. |
