PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscous material applying apparatus having a simple structure and capable of rotating a viscous material applying nozzle around the axis and performing stable coating even at the time of changing the temperature, and a method for the same. SOLUTION: The control of the temperature in the vicinity of a nozzle 3 is performed through a controller by pasting a rubber heater 51 on the outer peripheral surface of the viscous material applying member 4 in the vicinity of the nozzle 3 while detecting the temperature with a thermistor 52. The stable discharge quantity from the nozzle 3 is obtained by keeping a fixed temperature in the vicinity of the nozzle 3 to avoid the change of the viscosity of a viscous material 2. The more stable temperature control is performed by providing an air nozzle for cooling additionally or using a thermoelectric cooling element. A viscous material supply pipe line 18 for supplying the viscous material 2 is connected directly to a viscous material coating member 4, in which the nozzle 3 is provided, the viscous material supply pipe line 18 has a structure swingable to be synchronized with the rotation of the nozzle 3 around the axis and the viscous material supply pipe line 18 is disposable at every maintenance. As a result, the structure is simplified and the maintenance time is remarkably reduced.
