PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method for performing the butt welding of strips by which the generation of cut scraps is reduced to half and cutting planes are formed so that both end faces are parallel even in the case that deviation is generated when the strips are fixed with clamps. SOLUTION: After detecting the positions of the ends of the strip with optical sensors for detecting position, the angles of cutting blades are adjusted on the basis of the detected result so that the cutting plane at the end on the cutting side is parallel to the cutting plane at the end of the uncutting side and, after that, the end on the cutting side is cut.
