PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent development of large quantity of defective castings caused by breakage of a pin as case and to eliminate the wastefulness by detecting any abnormality in an early stage. SOLUTION: For example, in such casting method that a water passing hole 8 for cooling waster is formed in the inner part of the pin 3 as cast having small diameter and long length, and after introducing the cooling water into the water passing hole 6, the remaining water is removed by introducing purge air at the die-opening time or just after die-opening, the pressure of the purge air is checked, and only in the case of detecting no abnormality in the air pressure, this casting is shifted to the following casting cycle, and in the case of detecting the abnormality, the machine cycle is stopped.
