PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for repairing a coating film which fields a high quality finish exhibiting the same appearance of a coating film both at the ground place and the non-ground place and forming no grinding stain. SOLUTION: In the method of repairing a defective part of an intermediate coating film in a process for forming a multiple coating film with a top clear coating film on a luster base-coating film after forming an electrode position coating film and the intermediate coating film on a base material to be coated, the repair of the coating film is performed with a process comprising the steps of: (1) grinding the defective part of the intermediate coating film and the peripheral place, (2) forming a coating film for repairing with a coating material prepared by removing the whole pigment or a luster pigment from the luster base coating material on the ground place and the peripheral place without backing, (3) forming the luster base coating film and the top clear coating film on the coating film for repairing and the intermediate coating film on the non-repairing part, and (4) baking and hardening the coating film for repairing, the luster base coating film and the top coating clear coating film at the same time.
