PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direction changer not available before that is simple in structure and capable of smoothly changing the direction during straight advance of the running toy and a running toy using the device. SOLUTION: A direction changer 5 has a bearing member 23 and a crown gear 37 rotatably provided in a chassis 3, and a driving means 30 rotating the crown gear 37. A driving shaft 29 to which first and second wheels 25 and 27 are fixed is rotatably fitted to the bearing member 23, and first and second power transmission means 40a and 40b are provided in the driving shaft 29. The first and second power transmission means 40a and 40b are made up of first and second gears 39a and 39b engaging with the crown gear 37, first and second one way clutches 41a and 41b transmitting unidirectional rotation of the first gears 39a and 39b to the first and second wheels 25 and 27.
