An improved sliding element system is provided herein, which is of the type wherein the guide wheel sets of the lower side of the sliding element are designed t o support the sliding element on a lower guide section. A vertical wheel set is connected to the lower side, the vertical wheel set comprising a vertical wheel, the diameter of which is smaller than the transverse inside dimension of the lower guide section, the plane o f rotation of which is vertical. The peripheral cross section is round-shaped, and the poi nt of contact with the lower guide section is located on the same vertical line as the central axis of the wheel axle. The lower guide section comprises a longitudinal, upward, open- bottom groove, the edges of which serve as rolling surfaces for the vertical wheel. The vertical wheel and the bottom groove are mutually fitted so that, when the plane of rotation of the vertical wheel parallels the bottom groove, the vertical wheel extends partl y into the bottom groove. When the sliding element is being swivelled at a hinging point to stand at an angle relative to the guide sections, the vertical wheel, which is disposed to be fixed in relation to the sliding element, will rise upwardly carried by the edges of the bottom groove. A first coupling member will then be coupled by form-locked connection with a second coupling member.
