<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preventing slime in cooling water which can simply, safely, and efficiently prevent the adhesion of the slime by supressing the propagation of microorganisms by using residual chlorine generated by the electrolysis of chloride ions. SOLUTION: In the method for preventing the slime in a cooling water system by electrolyzing the concentrated cooling water of the cooling water system containing the chloride ions and generating residual chlorine, a hydantoin compound expressed by formula (1) (R1 and R2 are each hydrogen or 1-12C alkyl; R3 and R4 are each hydrogen, alkali metal, or halogen).</p> |
