PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand instrument for a medical diagnosis ensuring good operability for both right-handed and left-handed persons in human engineering and allowing an observer other than a user of the hand instrument to see a monitor while maintaining the directivity of a sonde turned to a diagnosis object to be observed by improving the hand instrument formed by providing an instrument casing 5, arranging the replaceably held sonde 3 for diagnosis at the proximal end of the instrument easing 5 while arranging an image reproducing device 4 with the monitor 9 at the distal end and providing at least one lighting system provided with a feed source, a light transmission means and an image forming means inside the instrument casing 5. SOLUTION: The image reproducing device 4 is arranged at the instrument easing 5 turnably around a vertical axis 8 extending perpendicularly to a longitudinal symmetrical axis 7 of the hand instrument 2.
