PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail by which a person to be cared suffering from cerebral infarction or the like, who can stand up or sit down with an assistance of a carer, can stand up from a wheelchair or sit down by himself reducing the caring burden of the carer. SOLUTION: This handrail is attached to the frames on one side or both sides of a wheelchair. The handrail comprises a gripping bar section 24 and an armrest frame 23. In this case, the gripping bar section 24 has a frame 21 which extends in the vertical direction, and forms an L-shape 22 at a specified height. The armrest frame 23 extends from a specified location of the gripping bar section. In this case, the handrail is fitted and fixed on the wheelchair, and is equipped with a space 24a on which a thumb can be placed.
