PURPOSE: A lower steel plate structure for a pot bearing is provided to place shrinkage compensating mortar easily, to secure structural stability of a pot bearing and to prolong the life in use. CONSTITUTION: In a pot bearing containing an upper steel plate anchored on the lower part of a bridge upper structure, a lower steel plate(20) anchored on a coping part of an abutment or a pier(L) and a bearing pad interposed between the upper and lower steel plates(20) to bear compressive force and stress of a bridge, and transferring tare and traffic load transferred from an upper structure of a bridge to a lower structure, the lower steel plate structure for a pot bearing comprises the steps of: installing a form(70) according to design standards of a shrinkage compensating mortar structure around the lower steel plate(20); placing shrinkage compensating mortar using an opening for placing shrinkage compensating mortar(21) formed on the center of the lower steel plate(40) as well as a space between the side of the lower steel plate(20) and the form; and bolting/fastening the opening(21) with a steel cover(22).
