The invention relates to a magnetic coil arrangement of a magnetic field applicator (1) to heat magnetic or magnetizable substances or solids in biological tissue, wit h a coolable magnetic yoke (2) with two pole shoes (7,8) across from each other and separated from each other by a gap in the exposure volume (12) on the magnetic yoke (2), wi th two magnetic coils (22) one assigned to each of the two pole shoes (7,8) to produce a magnetic alternating field, the magnetic coils being designed as disk coils with helicoidally extending coil windings (39) and respectively surrounding the pole shoe end of the assigned pole shoe (7, 8) annularly with an intercalated surrounding magnetic coil/pole shoe ga p (57). According to the invention, the magnetic coil (22) is respectively arranged in a coil box annularly surrounding the assigned pole shoe (7, 8), with the coil box (9, 1 0) being provided with at least one cooling air admission port (51, 52, 53) for connection of a cooling air pump and with at least one cooling air discharge port (57, 66).
