PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the deterioration of the optical output characteristics of a light-emitting device. SOLUTION: A groove 3 is formed on the surface of a light emitting element 1, in a manner of its surrounding a light-emitting surface 8. Thus, a dome-like encapsulating resin 9 can be formed surrounding the light-emitting surface 8. Therefore, even if an envelope is formed covering the element 1 later, expansion or shrinkage stress of the envelope due to the change in temperature does not work on the light-emitting surface 8, and the deterioration of optical output characteristic is also prevented. In addition, the quantity of the capsulating resin 9 can be reduced, and, since the encapsulating resin 9 is not brought into contact with a lead frame, copper ions in the lead frame hardly leak, preventing an influence on a light-emitting layer 3. |
