PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for determining a registering parameter necessary for registration and edge detecting processing. SOLUTION: A banking surface is scanned (100) to acquire at least two sets of gradation values. The average gradation is determined for each of two color channels (102), and according to the average gradation, a registration channel is selected (104). A gradation deviation is determined to the registration channel (112), and according to the average gradation and the gradation deviation of the registration channel, a registration parameter is determined (114).
