PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter for an engine absorbing impact and improving the startability in starting both of motor and recoil starter of the starter of the engine formed by assembling both of the motor starting (starting motor) and the recoil starter starting. SOLUTION: In the starter of a small-sized engine formed by assembling the motor starter and a recoil starter, a recoil spring, a reel, and a final gear connected to the starting motor via a reduction gear are disposed in series on a drive shaft rotatably supported on a starter case. In starting the starting motor and the recoil, an accumulator spring transmitting the torque to the drive shaft with an elastic action is stored in the final gear.
