METHOD OF MEASURING SHAPE OF SPHERE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method by which the shapes of many spheres can be measured efficiently with accuracy. SOLUTION: In this method, a sphere is held at a prescribed position on a measuring plate, and the image of the sphere is picked up from the light transmitted through the measuring plate. Then the shape of the sphere is measured by processing the image. A method of sucking the sphere to a recessed section provided on the measuring plate or a method of sticking a sizing agent to the measuring plate is used as the means of holding the sphere at the prescribed position.
