PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming coating layers by which, when a hard wear resistant coating layer is formed on either the edge face of a single edge in an agricultural excavation tooth or the flat face on the side opposite thereto, and after that, a wear resistant coating layer is formed on the other face, the coating layers can satisfactorily be formed on both faces without dissolving a already formed primor coating layer in the formation of the latter coating layer. SOLUTION: When a hard wear resistant coating layer 24 is formed on either the edge face 20 of a single edge in an agricultural excavation tooth 10 or the flat face 22 on the side opposite to the edge face 20, and after that, a wear resistant coating layer 26 is formed on the other face, the wear resistant coating layer 26 is formed by a PPW(plasma powder welding) method.
