PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image-coding method and device that can obtain a decoded image with less distortion, even when a standard coding/decoding system employing DCT is adopted, as it is. SOLUTION: The image-coding method and device extracts edge information denoting an edge part of an original image, applies smoothing processing on the edge part of the original image to contrast information denoting the original image, so as to obtain the contrast information of an edge smoothing image, codes the extracted edge information according to a 1st coding algorithm to obtain the coded edge information, codes the contrast information of the obtained smoothed image according to a 2nd coding algorithm to obtain coded contrast information, and uses the coded edge information and the coded contrast information obtained as above for coded information of the original image for solving the task above. |
