PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cost by dispensing with a forcible heating mean such as an electric heater or a burner, and to avoid clogging in a short time. SOLUTION: When a particulate filter 6 mounted in the midway of an exhaust pipe 4 for passing exhaust gas 3 from a diesel engine 1 collects, burns, and removes particulates in the exhaust gas 3, an exhaust brake 10 or the like narrows an exhaust flow passage on the upstream side than the particulate filter 6 in requiring regeneration of the particulate filter 6, and thus exhaust temperature is raised to burn and remove particulates in the particulate filter 6.
