PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of an alarming sound, while traveling on a highway and the like in a warning generating device for an electric vehicle. SOLUTION: When it is determined in Step 120 that there is an obstacle, a dummy sound generator 10 outputs a dummy sound from a loudspeaker 20 continuously during a period of time set by a built-in timer (Steps 140, 150, 170). Then, in Step 110, when it is determined that a road, on which the electric vehicle in traveling is a highway and the like, generation of dummy sound is prevented continuously during the interval of time set by the timer (steps 160, 170).
