ADAPTIVE WRITING METHOD FOR HIGH-DENSITY OPTICAL RECORDING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adaptive writing method for a high-density optical recording apparatus. SOLUTION: This writing method includes a discriminator 102 for discriminating the magnitude of a present mark of inputted data and the magnitudes of the leading and/or trailing spaces, a generator 108 for generating the adaptive write pulse by controlling the waveform of the write pulse in accordance with the magnitude of the present mark and the magnitudes of the leading and/or trailing spaces, and a driver 110 for driving a light source by converting the adaptive write pulse into a current signal in accordance with the driving power levels for the respective channels. Thus, the width of the first pulse and/or the last pulse of the write pulse waveform are varied in accordance with the magnitude of the present mark of the inputted NRZI data and the magnitudes of the leading and/or trailing spaces, thereby minimizing jitter to enhance system reliability and performance.
