PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely process information relating to setting and operation of a cable MODEM apparatus and to provide speech communication service at the same time by VoIP technique, in a cable MODEM apparatus to be connected with a CATV network. SOLUTION: A cable MODEM controller LSI 9 which is used for the cable MODEM apparatus 1 has internal buses 15, 16. A MAC layer 12 transmits and receives a MAC frame to and from an external bus I/F 14 and an I/F 19 for PC connection via the internal bus 15. A processor 17 for processing a digital signal transmits and receives speech information to and from the external bus I/F 14 and an I/F 18 for speech communication, via the internal bus 16.
