PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an underground tank embedding method and a concrete pit for embedding the underground tank which has no freezing problem even though the underground tank is embedded in a shallow space in a cold region, and moreover, excavation work and form work for concrete pit can be carried out in less labor and in a short period of time. SOLUTION: In the underground tank embedding method, the concrete pit is formed by using insulating lightweight formwork 1 made of foamed resin molded products having a fitting construction and separator 1b, and moreover upper insulation members 8a and 8b are used at the top of the concrete pit and concrete is partially filled to the four corners of the insulating lightweight forms 1 (refer to Fig. 4).
