PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a withstand voltage of a switching device in case of shorting under a load by minimizing margins of design. SOLUTION: A primary voltage resonance converter of a combined resonance converter is of self-excited type, and a continuity control terminal (base or gate electrode) of the switching device is constituted so that control voltage to be variably controlled corresponding to the level of secondary DC output voltage may be applied for constant voltage control. Therefore, switching control is performed for the switching device according to a combined control method where its continuity angle and switching frequency are synchronously made variable. In this case, the switching frequency is controlled so as to become higher as load becomes heavier.
