The power steering drive has a motor driving the steering rack (8) under a control using operating parameters (P1-4, P5.1,P5.2) of the steering column (4). the control circuit has a first computer (41) to compare an actual torque signal to a theoretical value. It has a second computer (42) to provide a compensation signal (Sc) dependent on the torque of the second parameters (P4,P5.1,P5.2,P5.3,P5.4) including braking parameters.
